building a community to reach a community

Giving in the Bible

Giving is a vital part of spiritual formation and maturity. It requires two things of us:

Faith Giving is an active expression of my faith. It recognizes God as my true provider. It affirms my confidence in His ability to supply all I need. It is an act of gratitude, dependence, and worship. And, it allows me to partner with God and His work through GFC in our community.

Faithfulness We are stewards or trustees of all that God has given us- including our money. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 4:2, “It is required of a steward to be found faithful.” Giving requires the highest standard of personal integrity and discipline. It is not a casual or occasional thing. In 2 Corinthians 8-9, the Bible teaches we are to give willingly, generously, and cheerfully. And our pattern should reflect a regular and systematic plan.

Giving and You

We value becoming personally generous with our lives. Money is certainly a major part of our lives, and managing it well is key to having the freedom to use it in God honoring ways. We have identified five characteristics of becoming healthy financial stewards.

  • A Diligent Earner
  • A Wise Saver
  • A Cautious Debtor
  • A Prudent Spender
  • A Generous Giver

  • It is our hope and prayer that those who become a part of our church will find themselves becoming healthy financial stewards.
